GLASGOW IS GRAND

Event description:
Sunny Govan Community Radio will deliver a series of radio roadshows in 3 community venues across the city to provide information, signpost and raise awareness of alcohol and drug issues. Venues Asda The Fort, Asda Maryhill, Asda Govan. Tune into Sunny Govan Community Radio on 103.5 FM during the GRAND Week for further details and times.

FAMILIES TOGETHER CONFERENCE

When:
Tuesday 13th September 10am-2.30pm

Where:
Parish Halls 266 George St, G1

Event description:
The conference will bring together Glasgow's 15 family support and kinship groups as well as the key Recovery aftercare groups and give them the opportunity to showcase their own group and network with each other through a "speed dating" format. Guest speakers include Eric Steele, Head of GlasgowAddiction Service, David Crawford, Executive Director of Social Work and Sister Gail from Notre Dame. There will also be personal stories from family members and those who are on their road to recovery.

Who is it for:
Families who are or have been affected by addiction. People already on their road to recovery. Event is free, however registration is required.

RECOVERY - A HOLISTIC APPROACH

When:
Tue 13th and Wed 14th September 11am-3pm

Where:
SAMH, Brunswick House, 51 Wilson Street, Glasgow, G1 1UZ

Event description:
The event will showcase presentations and information stalls including Glasgow Life/NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde on the Live Active Referral Scheme, SAMH Get Active, Lifelink, Esteem, Glasgow Council for Alcohol. Opportunity for people to try taster sessions in the therapies and talks around stress management from Lifelink.
Glasgow Life and NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde will host 'Walking into Wellbeing' in five parks in Glasgow during GRAND week. All walks will meet at the Leisure Centre reception.

HEPATITIS C AWARENESS DAY

When:
Wednesday 14th Sept. registration 9.45am, 10.15am start - 4.00pm.

Albany Conference Centre, 44 Ashley Street, G3 6DS.

Event Description:
Hepatitis C information and awareness day looking at the various barriers to testing and treatment and lifestyle changes required. The day will consist of presentations, workshops and shared experiences. Opportunity to access support from both professionals & peers in relation to Hepatitis C & related issues. Holistic therapies will be available; lunch and refreshments provided.

LGBT SCOTLAND COMIC STRIP & ANNUAL DRY BALL

Event Description:
Prior to GRAND week there will be a series of workshops within LGBT Youth Scotland, 30 Bell St on alcohol and drug awareness. A weekly group will create a short comic strip outlining the dangers of alcohol and substance misuse. GRAND week will conclude with an alcohol and drug free ball for young LBGT people where information stalls and the comic strip resource will be on display.

Who is it for:
LGBT young people across Glasgow. Partner organisations invited also.

RECOVERY THROUGH THE LENS

Where:
Library at the Bridge, Westerhouse Road, Easterhouse (12th - 14th September);
Pollok Library, Pollok Civic Realm, 27 Cowglen Road (15th - 17th September).
Hillhead Library, Byres Road (8th - 10th September);

Event description:
An exhibition of photographs telling the stories of peoples' recovery journey and showing a different perspective to the negative imagery often used.
Images created by people engaged in participatory photography workshops co-ordinated by Scottish Drugs Recovery Consortium and Open Aye photography.

Who is it for:
Exhibition open to all members of the community.
