"A PLACE TO REST AND RECOVER"

When:
Workshops on Wednesday 17 Aug, Wednesday 24 August and Wednesday 31 August (1.00 - 4.00pm) Where: Glasgow Wood recycling project, South Street.

Event description:
Addaction in partnership with Glasgow Wood Recycling will run a number of workshops on woodwork skills with the aim of creating a 'Rest and Recover' outdoor bench for our allotment space at Stonedyke. The bench will symbolise sharing 'recovery' stories through peer support.

"BREAKING THROUGH" - INFORMATION EVENT

When:
Tue 13th September 11.30am for 12 start - 3pm

Where:
SIMCC (Scottish Indian Mahlia Cultural Centre) Premises - Hindu Temple, La Belle Place, G3 7LH (next to Kelvingrove Park)

Event description:
Maryhill Integration Network will bring together Oasis, Mother Theresa and SIMCC Women's Groups (all in the North West area) for activities, information about alcohol and drugs, entertainment and a vegetarian lunch.

GRAND YOUTH ART

When/Where:
Ruchill Exhibition - Ruchill Community Centre 11am-5pm 13th September
Cadder Exhibition - Cadder Community Centre 11am - 5pm 14th September, Wyndford Exhibition - Wyndford Hub 11am-5pm 16th September.

Event description:
Art work produced by young people from the Ruchhill, Cadder, Wyndford area expressing their feelings about alcohol and drugs prevention and recovery. The art work will be exhibited during GRAND week in the above community venues.

Young people aged 8-18, exhibition open to all.

   

"BE SMART, BE SENSIBLE, BE SAFE"

Event description:
Peer education activity which will develop a set of posters and leaflets for young people by young people. The key message will look at the social and personal risk associated with drug and alcohol use among young people.

PRESCRIPTION DRUG OPEN DAY

When:

North West Womens Centre, 17-33 Shawpark St, G20 9DA.

Event description:
Open day for all woman, carers and practitioners including 1 to 1 advice, pain management sessions and alternative therapies. 3 workshops on mixing prescription drugs with alcohol, managing prescription drugs plus activities from Glasgow Council on Alcohol.

OPEN DAY AT THE 2ND CHANCE PROJECT

When:
Thursday 15th September 2.00 - 4.00pm

Where:
The Second Chance Project, 25 Ardoch Street, Possil.

Event description:
An informative and inspirational talk from all involved in the project since 2007. This will look at how family relationships benefited from the parents' recovery and look at moving on through accessing education, employment and voluntary work. Graduates at different stages of abstinence will speak about their journey.

HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE/DRUG AWARENESS DAY OF ACTIVITY

Thursday 15th September, a.m session 10.00 - 11.30, p.m session 1.00 - 4.00

YWCA Family Learning Centre, 3 Newton Terrace, Charing Cross, Glasgow G3 7J

Event description:
Morning session - GCA will deliver alcohol awareness training to internal and external workers. Afternoon - open event providing information, workshops and activities themed around drug/alcohol misuse, personal safety, arts and crafts and healthy lifestyles. Buffet provided in the afternoon and crèche available for mothers with young children under 5 years.

Event description:
Open evening event aiming to achieve a positive impact upon the lifestyle choices of adults and young people in the area, by providing an alternative to alcohol and drugs. There will be information stalls and activities including a football tournament, bouncy castle, assault course, art/crafts, games and music. Food and drink provided.

CENTRAL AND WEST INTEGRATION NETWORK HEALTH INFORMATION AND AWARENESS RAISING EVENT

A celebration of achievements by our Service Users, Staff and Volunteers. The event will promote recovery and allow information sharing and networking. The day will include a performance from the Together Project. Lunch provided.
