SOUTH AREA EVENT

When:
Monday 12th September, 9.30am - 8.00pm

Where:
Pollokshaws Burgh Hall, 2025 Pollokshaws Road, G43 1NE.

Event description:
Session 1
9.30am - 11.30pm - The winners and runners up of the calendar competition will receive prizes and the opportunity to view their entries. Health and play activities will be provided. Parents and carers of winners also invited.

Who is it for:
Primary 5 pupils

Session 2
1.00pm - 3.30pm - Community Support:. The session will include relevant information stalls and activities including conversation cafes, alternative therapies, drama performance and skills based workshops.

Who is it for:
All service user support groups, community rehabs, kinship care groups, women's support groups, family members and friends.

Session 3
Who is it for:
4.30pm - 8.00pm - Information stalls, interactive workshops and the "Take a Drink Drama". Winning G-Stars Performance along with Battle of the Bands. The Off-Sales Campaign Street League final will take place at the neighbouring 5-a-side pitches.

Who is it for:
Youth groups (young people aged 12+).

SEAL DRAMA AND TRAINING WORKSHOPS

When:
Workshops on 22nd, 29th August 12.30 - 2.30pm

Where:
Workshops all in St Francis Centre, Gorbals.

Event description:
Drama and training workshops delivered in the South East in partnership with FASS Kinship Carers, Castlemilk Domestic Abuse Project and SEAL. The workshops will finish with relaxation and therapies. The work will be showcased at the South Grand Area Event on 12th September.

It is a closed group for women who have been affected by addiction.

ANTI-SECTARIANISM PROJECT (FABLEVISION)

When:
Workshops before GRAND week

Where:
Schools and Community Centres throughout Govan.

Event description:
Exploration of the issues of sectarianism and the associated alcohol and violence problems that accompany it through a series of workshops in schools and community centres.

GOVANHILL FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP CONVERSATION CAFÉ

When:
Tuesday 13th and Tuesday 20th September 5.00 - 9.00pm

Where:
Community Hall, Samaritan House, 79 Coplaw Street, Govanhill, G42 7JG.

Event description:
The Conversation Cafe is an informal dialogue method which invites people to take part in discussions about topical issues in a comfortable setting. In this case the topic is recovery from addiction. The café on the 13th will be followed up with a feedback session on the 20th with music, food, refreshments and a showing of the Recovery Walk and Stories of Recovery DVDs. The sessions will also raise awareness of the work of Govanhill Family Support Group and South East Recovery Aftercare Group (SERAG).

All members of the community including families affected by addiction and service users including those in recovery.

REACH ALCOHOL AWARENESS EVENT

When:
Friday 16th September 2011, 10.00am - 5.00pm.

Where:
311 Calder Street, Govanhill, G42 7NQ.
REACH Gym; REACH Community Health Project, Network House,

Event description:
This event will be used to train and educate people from Sikh and Roma communities on 5 key topics around alcohol and its consumption and also inform them about the services available in their area. One-to-one advice will be available on the day for anyone to access. Following the training, the research findings will be presented to key stakeholders.

Sikh and Roma Communities, Men and women 18 +years, Disabled individuals / carers, LGBT.

CELEBRATING RECOVERY IN THE COMMUNITY

When:
Friday 16th September evening 5.00 - 9.00pm

Where:
Adelphi Centre, 12 Commercial Road, Gorbals, G5 OPQ.

Event description:
As part of the ongoing RAFT (Recovery Adelphi Friday Time) programme there will be a celebration during GRAND week that Recovery from drugs and alcohol is possible. There will be music, bands, information, fellowship meetings, SMART recovery, holistic therapies etc. Food and refreshments provided.

People in recovery, their family and friends.

FAMILY FILM NIGHT

When:
Saturday 17th September 6.00pm - 10.00pm

Where:
Ibrox Primary School.

Event description:
Opportunity to learn together in a family friendly setting on the dangers of alcohol and drug misuse and the effect on family life. A short filmed produced by Plantation Productions and the young people of Govan/Ibrox will be shown. This will be followed by a mainstream box office family film. Non alcoholic cocktails will be available as well as popcorn and pick n mix.
